I suppose this is kind of a strange topic here at Sensible Self-Improvement, but it was written in response to my recent car donation. So I will give you some information and hopefully some great places where you can donate your car and really help out someone less fortunate than yourself.

My husband and I are not the type of people that change out their cars every time a new model hits the showroom floor, but we did have three cars, the oldest one being my old daily driver. It was used rarely, if ever, and basically just taking up space in the driveway. My husband decided one day that we should just sell it and get it out of the way, but being the caring individual that I am, I suggested we donate it instead.

So the very next weekend, we started hunting around for charities in our area that would come and get it, and the car was hauled off on Saturday afternoon. What is the moral of my story? Well, we probably could have had some fun with the extra cash from selling the car, but when that old car was hauled off to someone that needs transportation, it was really a great feeling of satisfaction. Cars have a unique way of building independence and adding a sense of value to yourself, so I had really felt like I was able to help someone else feel that wonderful feeling of getting where they need to go, without life’s little barriers. The next time you are feeling charitable, consider donating your used car.
