There are plenty of markets that don’t simply toss food in with the garbage, but literally bag it up separately. Often fully wrapped/packaged goods, millions of dollars worth per year are set outside of grocery stores…on a planet where a child dies of malnutrition every two seconds.
Many folks are squeamish about the thought that this food sat in a plastic bag outside for a short bit, but this is the same food that sat in crates, boxes, trucks, and often in a package on a shelf for weeks/months before that. Many doctors and nutritionists have given this lifestyle the thumbs up, provided certain foods are avoided. So this avoids waste, reduces our ecological footprint AND dependence on the consumerism machine…I say YAY.
